What is a Copywriter?

Just a quick post today, but I couldn’t resist telling you this story as even though it is funny, it really does make a valid point about my job.

I have been working as a copywriter for over a year now, and I always thought my family understood what I did. Wrong, wrong, wrong… speaking to one of my sisters last week she thought I wrote legal documentation for our clients whilst the other… well… was completely clueless if I am honest.

To quote: “I usually zone out when you start talking about work…” – shame on her, lol.

However, browse the web and you’ll find endless streams of powerful sales copy, that break these rules entirely. They don’t care for what is considered to be proper ‘school grammar’, but are instead completely focused on getting you to buy, buy, buy! Continue reading

As a copywriter I am often asked: ‘How do I maintain consistency in the copy I produce?’ Well, let’s just say it is no easy task.

Writing blogs, press releases, articles, email marketing…basically everything that equates for a strong marketing presence, can sometimes feel like an uphill struggle.

Especially as I write for a wide variety of market niches whose audience bases are very, very different. However, with time I have discovered that overcoming this obstacle is possible and is much easier than you think. Continue reading
